About Amna Foundation

Amna Foundation was founded in 2020 with a clear and urgent mission: to support children living in refugee camps across Palestine. Born from a deep commitment to justice and compassion, Amna began by providing essential medical care, educational resources, and food aid to children who had been displaced by conflict and hardship. As the humanitarian crisis in Gaza worsens, our focus has sharpened—today, we are working tirelessly to deliver food and nutritional support to the most vulnerable children in Gaza, many of whom face hunger, trauma, and uncertainty every day. Our story is one of hope, resilience, and unwavering dedication to protecting childhood in the face of adversity.

🌿 Our Story – Amna Foundation

Amna Foundation was founded in 2020 by Zaki Younis, a humanitarian whose life began in a refugee camp near the city of Nablus in the West Bank. Growing up amid hardship and uncertainty, Zaki experienced firsthand the daily struggles Palestinian children face—limited access to medical care, scarce educational opportunities, and the constant challenge of securing enough food. These early experiences shaped his deep empathy and unwavering resolve to give back.

Driven by a vision of dignity and hope, Zaki established Amna Foundation to support children in refugee camps across Palestine. The foundation began by offering medical aid, educational resources, and food assistance to children most in need. Today, as the crisis in Gaza intensifies, Amna Foundation is focused on delivering life-saving food and nutritional support to children caught in the crossfire of conflict and deprivation.

Our mission is rooted in lived experience and guided by compassion. We believe every child deserves a chance to thrive—no matter where they were born.

What we Do

Our Primary Causes

At the heart of Amna Foundation lies a singular, urgent mission: to safeguard the well-being of Palestinian children living in refugee camps. Our primary cause is to provide life-sustaining support—especially food and nutrition—to children who are most vulnerable to the devastating effects of displacement, poverty, and conflict

Malnutrition and food insecurity

Figures indicate that hundreds of thousands of children under five are at risk of acute malnutrition. A significant number of children under five have been identified with acute malnutrition in recent months. Surveys suggest many children are not eating for a full day and consume limited food groups daily. The rate of malnutrition among children under five in Gaza City has seen a substantial increase, and the proportion of children with severe acute malnutrition is reportedly rising.

Decimated Healthcare System

Only 18 out of 36 hospitals remain partially functional, while medical needs have exploded. Essential supplies like therapeutic food and equipment for pediatric intensive care are dangerously short. Shortages limit diagnostic capabilities and access to vital supplies, including neonatal incubators and antibiotics. A lack of surgical tools hampers treatment for injured children.

Non existing school system

The school system in Gaza has been severely impacted by the ongoing conflict, with widespread damage to school buildings and disruption to education for hundreds of thousands of students. Prior to the conflict, Gaza had a relatively high literacy rate and enrollment in basic education. However, the current situation has resulted in school closures, displacement of students and teachers, and a lack of access to safe learning environments

Medical Aid

In crisis zones like Gaza, access to basic healthcare is severely limited. Our mission is to provide urgent medical aid—supplying essential medicines, first aid kits, and emergency care resources to children in desperate need. Every contribution helps treat wounds, prevent disease, and restore dignity. Together, we can bring healing where it’s needed most.

Hunger Aid

Millions of children and families face daily hunger due to poverty, conflict, and displacement. Providing hunger aid means more than delivering food—it’s about restoring dignity, health, and hope. Through donations of non-perishable items and nutritional support, we can help ensure that no child goes to bed hungry. Your generosity fuels change and brings comfort to those who need it most.

Education

In regions affected by conflict and poverty, access to education is often a distant dream. Providing education aid means delivering school supplies, funding teachers, and creating safe learning spaces for children who deserve a chance to grow, learn, and thrive. Every contribution helps unlock potential, break the cycle of hardship, and build a future rooted in knowledge and opportunity.
